To all my friends, fans and family
I love your letters . . .You've actually made me realize, that Its
unfair to keep this knowledge, to myself, you make me want to teach
again.
I am still constructing the course, so every time I get a letter,
about problems that some of you are going thru, musically, or non
musically, the content of the course is influenced . . .I am trying
to cater to beginners, intermediate and advanced students, all at
the same time . . . so it helps to know your problem areas, and your
goals. Remember the course is Playing by ear, so no conventional
reading will be necessary, but
for those of you who do read minimally,
that will be a plus in your grasping of the rudimentary aspects of
the course . . . I do stress rudiments and the amazing blessing, that
the knowledge of it brings.
Conventional music instruction has a pattern that becomes boring and
tedious at the same time, and usually, one has to hang in there for
years, before they explain the good stuff- Harmony
and that's
at the college level . . . My method begins with this college level
harmony, and introduces pop culture, immediately after the rudiments
have bin driven in. So I blend the classical school rudiments, with
the Jazz school freedom, and you can apply this knowledge to wherever
you are and whatever you want to do musically.
I intend to maintain a relationship with each of you individually,
even if you don't buy my course
and you get me on the right day,
I will still give you some tips . . .But for those who purchase the
course, I will feel automatically responsible for your development
and will be accessible to you, for the duration of the course, via
email, and after the six month period. (Within reason)
Really . . . thank you all for the letters of encouragement . . .
I am overwhelmed!!! I never knew that my playing, and my style of
playing, had such an impact around the globe.
I will post also on my site, certain seminars where I will be appearing,
and if it is your area, you are welcome to show up, and if you are
one of my students, it will always be free of charge

The
course
The course is geared towards enjoying the rudiments of musical journey
from the use of Roman Numerals for the chords, and the awareness of
numeric importance . . .First harmonically, then rhythmically, analytically
(intervalic, relationships) and melodically . . . all using only Triadic
motion (three notes moving together}. Which is the key to the truly
intense journey thru the beast . . .{the piano}, visually,
and musically.
It sounds intense, but it is amazingly simple.
Then
I introduce 7th chords...after the proper rudiments of harmony are
achieved. ,with triads in the right hand, and bass notes in the
left hand. . A new world of chord progressions open up...I don't
teach how to create, but I give you all the harmonic tools, and
the ability to maintain a professional level of piano technique
needed to upkeep your improvisatory goals. . And have fun exploring
your own creativity, with popular chord progressions . . .so the
first CD is rudiments, from the perspective of J.S. Bach, the founder
of smart harmonic motion
Four, five and six note chords . . . 7ths, 9ths 11ths, and 13ths.
. And the variety of modes that they engulf, begin on the 2nd CD...I
am still not sure of how many CDs there will be in the course, but
I am thinking 6, One for each month, it is a six month course, and
I am going to separate the CDs so that you advanced students can
jump ahead . . . just remember it is all valuable knowledge, and
you should not be eager to escape the rudiments, if you already
have knowledge of theory. I combine things in a strange way, and
you should pay keen attention to my rudiments . . . or you may miss
out on something that is key.
Basically I show you the world of chords and
how to understand their value and function in any and every song
. . . hence equipping you with the knowledge of how to create your
own songs . . . this can be construed as a songwriter's course .
. . but that is essentially what playing by ear is about
making up stuff.
The Global Arts Institute. Com is the school. You will have to register,
in order to get the course, and the benefits of the school.
The School site is currently under construction, by Pillar software.
Com, and I am so very excited about all the courses that are in
development, and the many things that we will offer . . .like our
own sequencer software, for Dos based computers which will be free,
to all students whenever its development is complete. There will
be a pre-registration form posted as soon as the site is up
I
am excited because I do believe that this will be the first
.com music school, and it will be the best!!!
So I am entering the video world
just for you guys
. Ooh
it is not my style, . . .but I will adapt
scripts and all that
crap!!! I just think of the outcome, and read a few letters from
you guys, and I am encouraged to keep trying.
The course will be on video CDs that you can put play on your computer,
and will cost between $400 and $500 dollars. I am trying to work
something out for some of you who are starving artists ... as suggested
by Dennes, he is one of you too. Since it is a six-month course,
for those of you who cannot pay for its entirety up front, you will
be able to pay monthly. Of course buying the entire course will
be more cost effective than monthly payments. I am still working
this out with my management
they think that I am crazy for
offering this monthly thing, but I am a musician, and I know the
struggle, and I would love for everyone to be able to afford my
course.
To get the course is really going to require patience . . . 3 to
5 weeks. . Maybe. . But it will be worth the wait . . .because it's
so simple to create music, once you understand the structure. .
And the structure is basic too. Always remember, that I am always
very open for suggestions.
I am also thinking of having an open Q and A, so that you will see
the mail of others and the answers that I give them . . . this I
know will be of much help
also I am all for students helping
students
So we will start a Global Arts institute user group
for this purpose. I found out that the best way to learn something
is to instruct someone else. Once weekly I will have a chat room
session at a specified time . . . so I would appreciate some feed
back as to the best time for everyone, then I'll do the math. Maybe
an hour on Saturdays, in the late afternoon might help the time
zone problem. Let me know.
I would also like you all to know that this school is a dream come
true, and that my mother will be so happy that I have returned to
our family tradition ... Music Instruction. Also I am not planning
on remaining actively in the industry
after this school takes
off, I am going to just develop courses for music education, be
a pain in the ass to you guys, and of course, go on the road with
my band.
My Vocal course is next, and I have used these
warm up techniques, with Mariah Carey, Deniece Williams, Lauryn
Hill, Tramaine Hawkins, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Bebe Winans, Glenn
Jones, and Scores of others
these warm ups work wonders For
the voice . . .if you want to sing, already sing, or you are a professional
singer, the results are immediate, and will build your confidence
rapidly!!!
This course, is an Audio CD, with written instructions, and will
be under $100.00. Another course, being considered is "the
practical use of synthesizers and sequencers" . . .but I am
swaying towards, making that a free newsletter. I am also working
feverishly on finishing my Album entitled "Tomorrow" a
24 song double CD set
. Vol. 1 is almost done, and will cost$12.00.
There are many more irons in the fire
but this is the update
for now.
Hey . . . Peace, Love, and Melody to all of you.
Be
safe . . . and keep in touch.
